On April 1, 2020, the new Regulation (EU) 2018/775 goes into effect, which concerns stating the origin of primary ingredients (see Livsmedelsverket’s definition) in your trade item information.

If you are a provider of food products or alcoholic beverages and need to send digital product information, this is what you do: Provide the origin indication for the primary ingredient(s) using term T4202 Provenance statement (term names and numbers are available in the GS1 Trade Item Information Guideline). Remember that the information you send must match exactly the information on the product package.

We have updated the GS1 Trade Item Information Guideline to reflect the new regulation

You can find more information about Regulation (EU) 2018/775, including the definition of a primary ingredient, at Livsmedelsverket’s website
