Guidelines and Quality Assurance rules

You can choose to photograph your samples to get product images of high quality, or to upload your own product images for quality assurance. If you upload your own images for quality assurance you can also let us edit them.

  • Quality assurance including editing

When placing an order for quality assurance of your existing product images, you can select Quality Assurance Image PLUS for also letting us edit them.

In addition to saving time and money by ordering the editing in advance, you get a more advanced editing. In the service "Quality Assurance Image Plus" we make sure that the image gets the best possible quality based on its conditions.

Example of advanced edits that we do in Quality Assurance Image PLUS:

    • Removal of dust and scratches.
    • Improvement of lighting, color and contrast.
    • A manual improvement of an automated clipping path, to allow a better exposure of the image.

Follow these steps if you want Validoo MediaStore to quality assure and edit your product images:

    1. Ensure that the trade item information is in Validoo Item, and that it is up-to-date.
    2. Your product images should follow Validoo Media Stores quality assurance rules. Read more about the flaws that can be edited for market images and planogram images, as well as the flaws that can not be edited.
    3. Place an order for Quality Assurance Image PLUS in MyValidoo.
    4. Upload the images to Validoo MediaStore.
    5. Validoo MediaStore checks and edits the images. It takes 5 to 10 working days from receipt of trade item information and sample for the images to be ready. We will send you an e-mail when they are ready.
    6. Approve the images for publication in Validoo MediaStore.

  • Editing of market images

When you upload images to Validoo MediaStore we check that they follow the quality assurance rules. If we find errors in the images we can in some cases edit them for you.

We can edit the following errors in market images, if everything else is approved:

    • The clipping path is not activated, correctly formatted or correctly named.
    • There are traces of dust or scratches.
    • The moiré pattern is too prominent.
    • Best-before dates are visible.
    • The image has alpha channels or layers.
    • The image has gridlines.
    • The image is not cropped as close to the object as possible. There can be a maximum 5% area from the object's outermost edges to the crop lines (image edges). Note that the object cannot be smaller than 1800 pixels for the image to be editable.
    • The file is not saved as RGB 8 bits per channel.

Depending on the appearance of the image we can also edit the following errors:

    • Colour and contrast are not realistic and balanced.
    • Retouching is not convincing at 200% magnification.
    • The picture is not taken with professional lighting.
  • Editing of planogram images

When you upload images to Validoo MediaStore we check that they follow the quality assurance rules. If we find errors in the images we can in some cases edit them for you.

We can edit the following errors in planogram images, if everything else is approved:

    • The image has a clipping path, but it is not named "Path 1".
    • The image has alpha channels or layers.
    • The image does not have a transparent background.
    • The image is not cropped exactly to the edge of the object.

Depending on the appearance of the image we can also edit the following error:

    • The image is not taken directly face-on, from above or one of the sides.
  • Images for marketing that must be photographed again

When you upload product images to Validoo MediaStore we check that they follow the quality assurance rules. Some errors can be edited, others can not. In these cases our recommendation is to order a new photographing of the product.

If the marketing images have the following errors they must be photographed again:

    • The image has interpolation artefacts or compression artefacts.
    • There are visible signatures, fingerprints or watermarks.
    • The image has been scanned from a printout.
    • The image is not professional and sharply photographed.
    • The image has been digitally oversharpened.
    • The object is less than 1800 pixels after cropping.
