Send trade item information

This is how it works to send trade item information using Validoo Item

  • 1. Generate trade item information according to GS1 standards

The trade item information that your company sends to the retailer via Validoo Item must comply with GS1 standards for Trade Item Information. When you enter the trade item information into your system, you create an electronic message that can then be sent onward.

  • 2. Test the trade item information

It is a good idea to test the trade item information before you send it on to retailers by sending the information to Validoo Item's test purchasers.

  • 3. Encourage retailers to create subscriptions for the products

A company that will receive trade item information must actively create subscriptions in Validoo Item. These subscriptions are made either for a supplier's entire product range or for parts of a supplier's product range.

If the recipient has not created subscriptions, Validoo Item will not send the trade item information onward even though the supplier has sent the trade item information to that specific recipient. You must therefore encourage the retailers to which you send trade item information to create subscriptions in Validoo Item.

  • 4. Send trade item information to retailers

When you send trade item information to retailers via Validoo Item, you can choose to send it "privately" (to the retailers of your choice) or "publically" (publish information in Validoo Item so that all retailers with a subscription matching the trade item information can import it to their systems).
