Developing a system

Developing a system for sending trade item information via Validoo Item is an extensive and repetitive job. Business requirements are added to the global standard and maintenance releases are made approximately yearly. When a maintenance release is scheduled you are required to update your system so that it sends trade item information correctly.

  • Take contact

Develop a contact with us. For a system to be approved it must be developed according to the existing specifications and standards. You will find sufficient documentation and links to be able to develop a system here.

  • Sign an agreement

To start a verification, an agreement must be signed with Validoo. Contact Validoo for further information.

The fee for verifying a system is 3000 SEK. The annual fee, for being a sending system, is 1000 SEK.

    • The annual service charge includes:
    • The right to send trade item information to Validoo Item
    • Publication at Validoo’s list of verified systems. Contact details and a short marketing text about your system (optional)
    • Information specifically for solution providers
    • Information meetings
    • Certain advisory services.

Consultancy fees are charged as follows:
    Technical support 1 200 kr / hour
    Advanced support / consultant 1 400 kr / hour

  • Set up a communication

Your system must be identified with a GLN (GS1 Location Number). A GLN is your company’s electronic identity. For being able to send trade item information from your system it must be identified with a GLN. There should be different GLNs for the test and production environments.

Order a subscription to a GS1 Company Prefix.

Every system that communicates with Validoo Item must use a secure communications protocol. We have chosen the communications protocol AS2 as the approved protocol. The AS2 protocol is based on http. It has support for encryption and signatures to ensure that no data is lost and that all transactions are clearly traceable.

  • Register, test and verify

    Register your system

A prerequisite for being able to send files to the test environment is that your system is registered by Validoo. The system must be added to Validoo Item as a sending system. You find the contact details here.

    Start testing your system

When the system is developed and the secure communication is in place you can start testing your system. You can do it by sending trade item information to our test recipient Validoo PreProd Test Recipient with GLN 7300027777774. You will automatically receive a validation report showing if the trade item information was correct or what errors were found. To achieve a high level of usability we recommend that you prevent the possibility of making these errors. Read the specifications here.

    Start the verification process

When you consider the system ready, and all errors have been fixed, it is time to have the system verified.

Send files for verification (see the verification cases below) to the recipient Validoo PreProd Verification Recipient with GLN 7300027777781. Validoo chooses what verification cases that applies to you.

  • Become a sending system

When your system is approved it is set for sending trade item information to recipients via Validoo Item.

We publish details of all approved systems on our website, together with contact information, to provide suppliers with an overview of systems they can choose for sending trade item information.

Marketing text to describe your system

We also publish a short marketing text about your system, if you like to. Please give it to us by the time you are approved to be a sending system. The text is limited to 450 characters and include information about your functions and limits.
